Christian Learning

Oxford offers a host of spiritual growth opportunities, anchored by a dynamic Sunday School program. We offer children/youth classes and adult classes each Sunday at 10:30 am. Click here to download a Sunday School Brochure

Children and Youth Sunday School Classes

These classes use an age-appropriate, activity-based (games, songs, pictures) curriculum to begin teaching young ones about Christianity. All classes are in the Education Building at 10:30 am.

  • Pre-school-"Lilies"–  Education Building Nursery.

  • Kindergarten – 2nd GRADE– "MUSTARD SEEDS" Education Building room # 2.

  • 3RD THROUGH 5th grade –"Doves"- Education Building room # 3-4.

  • 6th-8th GRADE - "LAMPLIGHTERS" - Conference Room, Education Building. Open discussions of the Bible and how it relates to daily life.

  • 9th-12th grade - "SAMARITANS" - DeKing Gym upstairs. Explores contemporary issues in light of God's eternal truths-to build and strengthen each member's personal faith and equip them for living.

 

Adult Sunday School Classes
  • CHRISTIAN LIVING TODAY (Adults--20 somethings and up) - Downstairs Classroom, DeKIng Gym. Dealing with the basics of Christianity and the unique spiritual and life issues that today's Christian adults face.
  • Pathfinders (Parents of children and tweens) - Pastor's Office, Education Building. Parents with young children.
  • FOLLOWERS (Older Adults) - Choir Room, Sanctuary. Studying different books of the Bible as part of group discussion. Uses Cokesbury Adult Bible Study curriculum. Lunch Fellowship is on the 1st Sunday of each month.
  • SPIRIT SEEKERS CLASS (Adults- 30 somethings and up) Room 6, Education Building. A highly interactive Bible Study with Group Discussion.

  • In Search of God’s Plan (Adults- 40 somethings and up, Meets at 8:30 am) Conference room, Education Building. (Meets at 8:30 am)

    NEW CLASS!

    LIFE CHANGE UNIVERSITY ( Married couples 20's, 30's, 40's) Room 5, Education Building. A fellowship and Bible based study group for young married couples. Uses small group DVD curriculum by Chip Ingram and "Living on the Edge."

 

In addition to these Sunday morning classes, Oxford offers Children's Church at 9:30 am to 10:30 am from September through May.

Seasonal Offerings

  • LENTEN BIBLE SERIES - On Wednesday evenings, beginning with Ash Wednesday and ending the first Wednesday before Easter, Oxford offers a six week Bible study to help prepare you for the resurrection of our Lord.
  • ADVENT BIBLE SERIES - This series is patterned after the Lenten Bible studies and is a four-week session in preparation for the birth of our Savior.
  • WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY (after supper) - A series of short (6 to 8 weeks) Bible-based studies on different topics.
  • CONFIRMATION CLASSES FOR YOUTH (Sunday afternoons in Spring) Pastor John and Youth Minister Dave Sygeel prepare class participants for the sacrament of Confirmation. An overnight retreat is held and a banquet is hosted to celebrate the confirmands.
